Withdrawing fluids

How long can a person last if they take in no fluids, but can eat 3 small non fluid meals a day. By non fluid I mean wet meals such as soup. So no fluid intake just the fluid within the food?

Our grandmother went on for I think just over 2 weeks in the end on the Liverpool care pathway. It’s a difficult thing to watch.

FLumpet the Liverpool Care Pathway is no fluid or food I think. Food is ok just not fluid.

It's hugely variable. A lot longer than you would think. The food itself has a fluid content and depending on the person's underlying illness their body may still be very efficient at preserving fluid. Also if they are lying in bed and not moving about, their energy requirements are very low so they will be using very few calories and very little fluid.

So ultimately without seeing the person it is impossible to say. Especially if the meals are soup it could be a surprising time.

No soup like meals. Wet meals can't be tolerated, only more solid foods. No diagnosed underlying illness (yet).
