Im new here so it wont let me post in the sex forum, so apologies if im in the wrong place.
Ok so I'll get straight to the point, for a while now I've been pretty dry 'down there'. Before and during sex.
I fancy the pants off my husband and really enjoy sex so its not that I don't find him attractive or feel turned on, because I do.
I don't know why I can't 'self lubricate' anymore. We do foreplay and everything.
I never used to have a problem.
Is there anything at all I can do to get back to normal without using that awful lube stuff.
Im so embarrassed I literally don't know what to do or who to talk to?
Please be gentle with me folks.. Thank you in advance x

How old are you? If you are forties onwards it can be the start of the peri menopause, if so something like Vagifem will help.

retirednow · 26/11/2017 18:26

See your gp and have blood test to check hormone levels. Yoiu can get oestrogen cream, lube isnt that bad, better than the alternatives ! As pp asked how old are you and are you on any medication.

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 18:30

I'm 29 and other than a short course of antibiotics I'm on no medication. Thanks for your replies. I don't know if I have the courage to go to the doctors, its taken me months and months to pluck up the courage to post on here x

Doctors, and nurses, are very used to this. If you don't want to see the dr then do you have a family planning/sexual health clinic you go to. Have you changed your contraception method recently?

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 18:46

No change in contraception, I haven't used any in years. I was sterilized about 6 years ago x

Please go and talk to your GP. I'm at least as old as your grandmother and having a happy sex life that wouldn't have existed for years and years if we'd tried to manage without medical
help. I know so many women who've given up at an early age because they thought the dr would think they were weird. Don't you think you and your chap are worth the effort?

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 20:41

Oh we're definitely worth it, I think I'm just scared more than anything that they'll say there's nothing they can do and I just have to live with it. Thanks for replying x

Come back and thank me when you're sorted! There's plenty they can do.

Silvercatowner · 26/11/2017 21:08

Yes, go to the doctors. But don't dismiss lube as 'awful' - it can be good stuff.

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 21:11

Sorry I should have been more clear, we have used lube but I have allergies and sometimes it makes me quite sore down there. Thank you ladies xx

KY jelly or there is something you can get in health food shops (no pun)

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 21:17

To be honest we've been using coconut oil, works OK but I wish I didn't have to use anything. Silly body, wish it could do it itself x

You mentioned that you recently had antibiotics- maybe when you go to the GP ask them to swab you for thrush or BV as antibiotics can mess about with natural bacteria!

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 21:19

I've only been on antibiotics three days, had this problem for around two years now xx

Please pluck up your courage & go to your doctor. There will probably be one in the practice who has done courses in gynaecology and will be able to help you. Gin to make you brave.

Whatsinanameanyway201 · 26/11/2017 21:25

Ah thank you so much xx

retirednow · 26/11/2017 22:37

There is plenty gp can do so don't be scared, it will only be a chat and maybe a blood test to check hormones.

PollyPerky · 26/11/2017 22:43

KY jelly is useless as a lube for sex. I'ts old fashioned and not advised by gynaecologists. It's really only for medical examinations.

The one they recommend is YES.

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/11/2017 22:47

Another recommendation for YES to lube.

Regular lube is painful for me to use too. But YES is fab.

Footle · 26/11/2017 23:18

Lube is essential for almost everybody after menopause , and for many before. I've known so many women get hung up on 'my body should do it automatically'. Sylk is the one I use - I'm allergic to KY.

oldmissmort · 27/11/2017 07:29

Yes changed my life - was allergic to everything else - use the oil one and water one together for extra 'glide' Smile

retirednow · 27/11/2017 09:53

I always use my but can never seen to warm out up evcen though I out it inn hot water. I think I will try yes, can you buy it at the counter, j have not seen it before

oldmissmort · 27/11/2017 11:23

Buy online - some products in their range are available on NHS prescription

Footle · 27/11/2017 12:02

oldmissmort, that's really bad advice. OP could even be having an early menopause - buying lube online is not going to help if that's the case.

retirednow · 27/11/2017 12:13

As PP has said, do not buy on line
