Viral meningitis

I was rushed into hospital on Saturday after feeling rather ill and after a CT scan ( clear) and a L.P. I was discharged on Monday night late after being diagnosed with viral meningitis and also an infection somewhere. I was prescribed anti biotics for the infection and rest and fluids for the VM.
I have been signed off from work till 27th but so far I have to say I don't feel any better at all.
Has anyone any similar experience? When should I start feeling better?

( posted on behalf of my wife as she can't tolerate even putting on her phone)

It's early days, sounds horrible. A headache can last a few weeks after an LP and an illness like this can really knock you for six even if healthy before. My understsanding is that the viral infection would take a good week or so to go. But if the original symptoms are not resolving with the treatment given, or if you start to feel worse, please please do go back, particularly signs of meningitis eg photophobia etc.

Thanks leghoul. My wife so far doesn't seem any worse (If there could be any worse) but not much better. She is resting and keeping her fluid intake up as much as she can. Her appetite is next to nothing which is also hindered by nausea and vomiting. She can't stand the light or noise and is sleeping alot, which I suppose is good in one sense as she is resting.
The issue that doesn't help is because she has an infection as well and is on antibiotics, as yet it's very hard to tell whether it's the virus or infection that's making her feel so unwell. She is, I know going to start getting bothered about work and wanting to go back as her attitude will be, well Dr gave me a note for a week so should be better in a week.
