Anyone with any experience of taking paroxetine?

Some one I know has just been prescribed it and is wondering how quickly it will start to work and what the possible side effects might be. TIA

Hi,

I took Paroxetine about two years ago now. It worked for me in that it sorted out my depression. The only problems I had with it were that it made me crave stodge and at first I really struggled not to put on weight (but a friend of mine found it made her lose weight !) . Also it was not easy to come off in that I tried just stopping it (after seeing a useless locum GP ) and felt really ill . However then saw my own GP who switched me to a liquid form and I just slowly reduced the dosage took about 5 weeks to come off completely .
So I guess I would say that I had a positive experience , it helped me through a really rough time. Started working within about two weeks.

me puddle, for anxiety, made me feel a bit spacey for the first couple of weeks but then fab. had cbt too, came off it slowly after six months and was fixed . didnt put on or lose weight, got a bit of a dry mouth IIRC but only for a few days. wouldnt hesitate to take it again if i needed it.

I found that I felt better after three weeks and much better after six, which is apparently the textbook reaction to paroxetine. It gave me my life back.

I wa son it for a while but had to come off as everytime I sat down I fell asleep.
