Should I see GP for sore throat?

Or will I just be told it’s a viral infection?

2nd night of not being able to sleep with a severe sore throat. Paracetamol and ibuprofen have done nothing. Lonzenges and throat spray are having little effect.

Throat is very red, uvula is large and going out to the side, white spots.

Will they at least give me a stronger painkiller even if it’s viral?

Just go if it's really bothering you. It's hardly wasting anyone's time if you can't sleep and there is swelling etc

Could be strep which is bacterial and so antibiotics work. I often get it.
