Short of wiping my arse with sandpaper, what can I do? It's worse (tmi) after a poo.

Piles?

mushmallow · 04/11/2017 09:27

Nope. Doc on Thursday had a peek and said just a small skin tag.

Thread worms.

mushmallow · 04/11/2017 09:30

As above, I've been examined and she saw nothing but a skin tag.

You won't see thread worms during the day

Use a washcloth get yourself really clean

fooffailure · 04/11/2017 09:46

Saw a physio recently because of prolapses. She saw my bum at same time because of similar issues (also takes me ages to wipe). I have no piles but skin tags and get splits in skin which itch a lot. She suggested roid cream for 6 weeks. Helps tighten skin which stops the creases a bit so they heal better and don’t split. Still trying to remember to do it so can’t yet report back

Could be thrush? I've had it, nightmare Sad

inappropriateraspberry · 04/11/2017 09:48

Could always try a bit of nappy cream? Might ease the itchiness in the short term.

endofthelinefinally · 04/11/2017 10:20

It would be worth taking the treatment for thread worms anyway. It is cheap and you can buy it OTC.
Also consider allergies to soap/shampoo/conditioner.
If you wash your hair in the shower, turn around and bend your head forward so the shampoo and conditioner doesnt go anywhere near your bottom. (Sorry TMI).

tackytriceratops · 04/11/2017 10:24

I had an issue with thrush there. Wormed myself and sudocrem didn’t work. Canesten did.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 04/11/2017 10:25

Do you shave in that area? Could be that

HemanOrSheRa · 04/11/2017 10:27

Have a read of this - lots of advice. Mysterious bum itch is a real thing (if that is any help, probably not).

This happens to me sometimes and I find its a bit of a vicious circle, once I start to itch i can't stop. It is a 'thing'.
I use something like lanacane or pile cream and it settles down.

CappuccinoCake · 04/11/2017 12:14

Take threadworm stuff anyway. I dose my kids a few times a year....

flumpybear · 04/11/2017 12:34

Itch scratch syndrome?

Silvercatowner · 04/11/2017 16:12

Take Ovex for threadworms. You might as well and it probably is.
