ds (14 weeks) has been rubbing his eyes and sneezing alot, especially first thing in the morning. could this be hayfever? if so, can i give him Piriton or is there a special baby one? i will speak to the HV on Monday, just wondered if MN had any pearls of wisdom for me...

I think piriton is for 1yr+
Wiping eyes with wet cotton wool is best I can think of.Someone is bound to have better advice.
If his eyes get clogged and stuck bathe eyes with warm tea

Cetirizine is better than Piriton as it doesn't cause drowsiness. My ds has been having this since 18months but you'd need to check with a pharmacist as 14 weeks imay be too young.

it's very unlikely to be hayfever as normally more than one season of allergen is needed for it to sensitise a child hence hayfever rare in infants under one

zippi - that's what i thought!! i will have a chat with the HV on monday and see what she thinks (although she is a bit bloody useless)
