for a while now my 3 year old has had a small amount of blood coming from her bottom when she does a poo. It started off as pccassionally but but about 2 weeks ago it was happening everytime she went ie once or twice a day. I made an appt for drs but not for 2 weeks( Drs too busy to fit a 3 yr old in ). Today however she called me in distress to the toilet where there was loads of blood in the toilet and all over her bottom. it's affecting her now. She doesn't want to wipe her bottom or go for a poo now. i've made an appt to see the dr today but i wondered has anyone else come accross this.I'm a bit worried.

How upsetting for you and her.

It could be piles or a fissure. My son had one (4yrs) and I noticed blood when I wiped his bum. he'd been saying it hurt.

It was a small cut in the anus and they gave me cream for it. If it wass really bad and not clearing up he would have had stronger cream from hospital.

hope it gets sorted today. xx

has she been constipated? might be a small tear or fissure, that is bleeding, rather than anything sinister

hope doc puts your mind at rest x

Thanks everyone. She's not constipated and eats lots of fibre and generally goes 1-2 times per day. Hopefully it is what you ladies suggested a fissure. Will let you know what the drs say. going at 4.30.
Thanks for the sexual abuse tip. I work in a nursery so I kinda expected a bit of questioning because I know they are so hot on picking these things up these days

Thanks for you help today everyone. Dr said my daughter has a anle fissure coz her stools are quite bulky. She's given her some lactulose laxitive to soften them up to allow it to heal . Hopefully that will do the trick

oh my DD2 had an anal fissure, it has almost healed now.
Innocent Smoothies are fantastic, expensive, but fantastic.

Hope the lactulose does the trick. You need to get her poos to "curry sauce" consistency then it will allow it to heal.

oh yes ds had lactolose too. Yuk, but it worked. Glad its getting sorted.
