Neurology visit

I had my first appointment with neurology today, my GP referred me there as I have had a numb & tingly face, atm & leg since July. This is second episode of weird numb tingling.

During visit she tested my reflexes on feet, arms & legs and commented that I have no reflexes. I never thought to ask if that’s normal or not and it was never mentioned again.

So, does anybody here know if it’s normal to have no reflexes at all?

I don't think it's typical to have no reflexes but I think it could be caused by a number of things.

What's the next step in the investigations ?

She has requested a MRI scan of brain and will see me again once she has results of that

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for that and they will be able to work out what's going on .

The reflexes thing can be a diagnostic for thyroid disease and the pins and needles/numbness for vitamin B12 deficiency.

Have you had either of these checked?

No idea but can hand hold through neuro investigations as going through it with ds.

Except he has the opposite! He has hyper reflexia. Basically when testing his reflexes on one leg it makes the thigh muscles on the other one react! He also has myoclonus and he can't straighten his arms. Has tight Achilles and hamstrings etc.

He's been referred to a tertiary neurologist who specialised in neuro muscular diseases so you may get referred on to a more specialist neuro after the MRI.

My ds has an MRI a few years ago but it didn't show anything.

Thanks for replies. My bloods have been checked fully and I am perfectly healthy.

I had MRI after first episode of numbness as I ended up in A&E with suspected TIA due to weakness in limbs and tingling face.

Trying to stay positive and away from google but neurologist mentioned MS 3 times during appointment so hard not to worry
