Enlarged uterus anyone?!

I've always had really heavy painful periods but more recently, last 2 weeks, I've had a full feeling in my belly, constant pressing on my bladder, bloating and sciatic-like pain down my legs.

I went to my GP on Monday and got an ultrasound scan this evening thinking they were going to find fibroids or a cyst. I had an internal scan and all the sonographer said was go back to my GP, they found nothing sinister but my uterus is enlarged.

I wondered if my symptoms resonate with anyone else? Has anyone with an enlarged uterus had the sciatic pain? What did you do to help it?

I guess the GP will tell me more when I see her again on Monday. I am in so much discomfort that I am seeking some advice and help!!

I have an enlarged uterus. It was discovered when i had a biopsy taken of some poylipoid thickening. It all came back clear. I also get the burning down my right leg. I find walking helps and stretching my side gives temporary relief

I would ask the GP to refer you to a gynaecologist for further evaluation.
In the meantime I would keep a daily pain and symptom diary noting everything.

A common cause of both heavy and painful periods is endometriosis and that is not detected on ultrasound scans.

I have one, I have adenomyosis. Otherwise referred to by my consultant after months of investigations and flooding as a bulky, enlarged uterus.

It's really quite painful but massively helped by the contraceptive pill. Zoely has so far proved brilliant in controlling the symptoms.

Sorry meant to add, not so much sciatic pain as general back pain.

Thanks everyone!
