Gall stones

I've had an ultrasound today to diagnose gallstones, Lo and behold the sonographer found "a big old bag of stones".
I was told to make a GP appointment to discuss next steps. My question is, what happens next?

You can decide wether to have the operation or not, then be put on the looong waiting list!

I’ve just had my operation. Took from my scan in May to early October but I am lucky as I think that’s quick. Operation will depend on if yours are under control or cause you horrific pain?
