DD1 very lethargic today. Has stayed in bed, high temp etc. Doc says its a urine infection.... is this common? How do they get these? She's v feverish and also has a sore throat. She's shivvering, won't let me take the cover off even though she's boiling. Nurofen has helped a little. Anyone else experienced this type of infection with their little ones?

You expect to not have to deal with these illnesses during the summer don't you - its like bleeding winter all over again in this house!! Bring on the summer...

How old is she Tatcity?

Girls can be prone to urine infections, especially when they are learning to wipe their own bottoms when they are at the toilet. They tend to put their hand down and wipe from back to front, bringing germs forward from the anus. Need to be taught to wipe from behind so that the paper goes from front of bottom to back to back.
Plenty of fluids, paracetamol and nurofen together should keep her temp down. Antibiotics should start working after 48 hours. Hope she is better soon.

Just seen her age in the title - sorry.

thanks Mears. She does wipe from front to back generally, but she has been wetting herself quite a lot recently maybe that is something to do with it. She's asleep now at last, has been quite delerious all night. Thanks for the advice.
