Uti stomach pain?

Can anyone describe the lower stomach pain associated with a uti please?

When I had it my GP and then the hospital were considering appendix and ectopic pregnancy. I had symptoms of an infection ie raised temperature a couple of days before but by the time the pain started this was back to normal. Not sure if that helps.
