I twisted my knee yesterday, while walking the dog,it is agony,
When i walk it is painful, it seems its when i put weight on my leg,
I can bend my leg backwards and it seems ok, it is just on the inside of my knee
Any suggestions as to how to help it get better please?
Should i put ice on it or deep heat, or a knee bandage?

I'm not a physio I'm a remedial massage therapist
RICE
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
Basically rest it. Elevate it so that it's preferably above heart level. Compression, so you could use a compression bandage or cuff which you can get from a chemist. Ice it for up to 20 mins every 2 hours. Don't put deep heat on it at the moment. Take ibuprofen to bring the inflammation down. The accute stage is 3-5 days after an injury. If it's still painful after that I would go and see an osteopath.

Rest and ice, although not directly applied to skin and only for short periods. If very swollen and/or your knee is giving way then it's worth a visit to your local Minor Injuries Unit. If it's not improving with a few days of rest then it's probably worth a GP or private physio appointment.

It's likely to be a medial meniscal tear or medial collateral ligament injury.

Thank you so much.I have taken ibuprofen and paracetamol.and got some ibuprofen gel.which is helping. It is actually at the side of my knee, and slightly lower. rather than on the kneecap.seems a bit better today.will do as you advise if it doesn't seem to be improving much
