2 days ago she came down with a tummy bug. Had 2 bad nights and was sick quite a few times. Had a high temp too.(dont have therm.) Hasnt eaten anything for about 36 hrs. This morning woken up with eyes stuck together and her whole face is puffy and swollen. She seems ok in her self just a little clingy.
Anyone have any ideas? Or had any experience?
I am waiting for doc on call to phone back btw

Have you tried NHS direct - although you prob don't want to tie up your phone line. If you ring on a mobile, they will ring you back if you ask (had to ask once as was down to 10p credit ). No ideas though otherwise. Hope it all gets sorted

Had MMR? Could be mumps www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?printPage=1&articleId=255

from a quick google could be quite a few things but whatever it is you need to see the doctor so don't let them fob you off.

my 2yrds has his eyes stuck toether and the dr just said it was cold infection coming out of his eyes. i woulkd be worried by the swollen face - could you ring the local childrens a&e or have you an nhs walk in centre - they are open all the time.

Thanks all.
Doc just been out, quick visit. She has viral infection. Which explains puffy face, stuck eyes, high temp and being sick. So its just a case of fluids. Offer her a bit of food but if she doesnt want it, dont need to worry, she will eat when she wants. Thanks again all xx

one less thing to worry about . Nice to hear of a doctor who comes out promptly still.

When she starts to eat again she may have some problems with dairy because you can get temporary milk intolerance after bugs. Cheese and live yoghurt are more easily digested. Hope she's well soon.

Thanks Tatt. i will keep an eye out for that.
I probably over reacted a little. I hate it when she is ill. I feel so helpless. luckily we saw a good doc
Going to snuggle on the sofa with her now watching harry potter.
She will be ok soon. Lots of fluids, calpol and mummy and daddy cuddles! x
