Fixed braces after effects

My teenage son had fixed braces put on at the weekend. He’s in a fair bit of discomfort and struggling to eat which we know is normal at first, but is it the case that all pain and discomfort goes once the wearer gets used to them? I’ve heard different things and 2 years of wearing them is a long time. Cheers

Yes it wears off. It may be uncomfortable when the wires get changed or they get tightened but again it wears off in a couple of days

Yes, the pain will wear off in a coup!e of days. It will hurt again each time he has a new wire fitted but it will never be as bad as the first time. Just keep him dosed up with paracetamol and give him soft foods to eat. He'll be fine by the end of the week, probably sooner.

It will get better, don't spare the painkillers (or the wax) for the first few days.

After the first few days it will ease up, and just be painful after each tightening session for a few hours/overnight.
