Problems with Maxidex (dexamethasone) eye drops

Is it normal to get strong photosensitivity when taking Maxidex (dexamethasone) eye drops? I am having to lurk in the house like a vampire, especially in the mornings, and it's not very compatible with going to work! I've had viral conjunctivitis, which seems to be clearing up, so I'm wondering if I should just stop taking them or if they're like antibiotics and you have to finish the course or else.

I have a feeling my GP will just send me back to the eye unit to ask, where I'll have to wait another 5 hours to get advice...
