Worried for cervical cancer

I've been having problems for a whole year! Down below one minute it's polycystic ovaries the next it's something else I've been getting similar symptoms to cervical cancer I'm 21 and asked for a smear test but for as told I wasn't allowed to until I'm 25. I've had abnormal bleeding, pain non stop heavy amounts of cervical mucous nausea lower back pain.

I went for mixed swabs (bacterial) and found abnormal cells but no bacteria I was given some antibiotics just incase it is an infection apparently. But I feel as if this is something more! I don't understand why I'm not being taken seriously? So can I ask what symptoms you may have had? I'm tired of feeling ill can't take I anymore

Im sorry you are unwell Flowers

A smear test is not the appropriate test if you have symptoms, even if you were within the age range. How long have you had the symptoms and have you had any other investigations?

I hope that your symptoms improve and that you get some reassurance soon.

I've been having problems for a whole year now it's one thing after another slowly coming at its own time not all at once spread out the whole year.

Negative sexual health results and no bacteria but found pus cells. I just want to be fully checked with everything now! They just don't seem like they know what it is!

Sorry that was your first sentence Blush

Have you seen a gynaecologist?

theaveragewife · 27/09/2017 21:16

I've just had a quick google and found this under 25 screening service that I would contact, just to put your mind at rest. Flowers

Keep pushing if you don't feel it's right and don't feel worried to get a second opinion!

You need a referral to a gynaecologist who might want you to have a colposcopy. A smear is a screening test and not suitable for people who are having symptoms.

Ok thank you! I have been asking to see a
Gynaecologist but the doctor didn't think I needed to even though she doesn't know what's going on Hmm just want to rule everything out!

smear tests are screening tests for those without symptoms. If you are having symptoms, you need diagnostic test/referral to gyn. please insist and don't allow GP to fob you off.

Anybody you could take with you to GP or see a different GP?

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 28/09/2017 08:35

Definitely keep pushing for a gynaecologist referral. Cervical cancer is extremely unlikely at your age, but your symptoms need investigating and treating Flowers
