scar has turned deep purple

I had an op two months ago which lead to a six inch scar with roughly eight stitches.

All was fine until a few weeks ago when the scar & stitch holes suddenly turned a dark purple.

Dr says its fine but Im wondering why it went from pale pink to dark red so suddenly and will it ever fade?

Sounds quite normal to me, I've had surgical scars do similar. Really good moisturiser like Bio-Oil can help with fading.

This happened with a large surgical scar I have on my stomach, it started to fade and go silvery after about 18 months.

Ok, that makes me feel better. I assumed that it would stay pale & then go silver. What a shame - looks like Ive been stabbed unfortunately!
