Hard Water area

I live in a hard water area - when I boil water in a pan or kettle you can see a white substance on the top of it!

I'm spending a small fortune on mineral water - is there a way of combating this?

Do purifiers work?

any advice appreciated!

What worries you about it?

I didn't drink tap water for the first 10 of the 15 years I lived in Hampshire because I couldn't stand the taste. I found it didn't quench my thirst.

I started off buying 15p 2 litre bottles of table water from Tesco, then moved to the Brita water filter jug then the Asda own brand version. Eventually I gave in and drank it.

I was happy to drink tap water where I used to live, but now I'm down south there is a definite difference in taste but more importantly colour and clarity

Honestly, boiling the water in a pan and seeing with my own eyes the amount of white powdery substance really was a wake up call

Hard water is a nuisance for causing lime scale but it isn't a health hazard. It actually reduces the risk of heart attacks.

It's not harmful and you get used to the taste.

I just started drinking weak squash to disguise the taste when I moved south. I've got used to it now after 15 years!
