They found something on my liver...

I've spent since January going from the GP to a Haematologist because of fever of unknown origin. Loads of blood tests all showing nothing of significance. Consultant orders an ultrasound and they find something on my liver. It's not a hemangioma benign thing. But not sure what it is. I've had an MRI this week. I am very worried about the results. I have a follow up appointment next week.

Fingers crossed for you. Do you have any distractions while you’re waiting for results?

They didn't say it was not benign, did they? Just that it's not a ... eh.. hemangioma. Hoping for the best of course. Flowers

Thanks. No they didn't say it's not benign. I'm trying my best not to worry but it's so hard and it's consuming my thought space.

Had it been something really bad, they'd have whisked you away on a stretcher straight away and you'd now be lying in a hospital bed, recovering from surgery. The very fact that this hasn't happened increases the likelihood that it's something benign. ...

I think it can't be anything too bad logically as had loads of previous blood tests and nothing came back as a red flag. It's just the waiting.... Thanks - you are probably right.

Alpha of course they don't whisk you away for immediate surgery....

OP. Livers are marvellous organs. They regenerate.
Many, many people have 'something' on their liver. Often it doesn't mean anything at all and is completely harmless, but the doctors will need to take tests firsts - including the ultrasound.

No-one will want to put you through surgery unnecessarily so everyone will want to be sure that something does need to be removed.

Hi

Sorry you are going through this. Fx for you that it is good news.

Just to agree with other poster. Something was found on my liver 7 years ago. They couldn't tell me what it was on the ultrasound so had to undergo an MRI because they needed a closer look. The results showed a complex cyst but they were sure it was benign. I had a follow up scan six month later and all was the same.

Let us know how you get on x

Hi I had this exact same issue 2 yrs ago. Was told there was multiple lesions on my liver the day before a 2 week holiday! They said just go enjoy it & have an MRI when you get back.

I had too many to count small benign cysts, a large hemangia and an adenoma. All harmless & I was discharged..

Seems these are commonly found on ultrasound & more often than not totally harmless!

Let us know & try not to fret (I know easier said than done).

Thanks. My appointment is Friday but consultant rang me to say that it's focal nodular and I have a couple of them so that's the best possible news.
