Insurance company is requesting docs report before they will insure me due to PND - has this happened to anyone else?...I am quite upset by this.

My dh and I are currently re-doing all our life cover, house ins, critical illness cover etc, and during the health questions section it asked about any history of depression and so I said "yes - pnd".
Then at the end of the questions it said that before they would insure me they wanted a report from my GP.
Why? God knows you feel bad enough having to tell these things to a total stranger, but I felt like a leper by the time I left.
I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else and wether they were then accepted by the insurance company?

yes, it happened to me , and i got accepted....they have to know what risk factor you are , i;m afraid, and if you don;t disclose something and then try to claim , you won;t receive your payment. would be the same whatever illness it had been
