Lump on labia majora

Wife has found a lump on one side of the outer lips.
It's about the size of a finger nail and is a bit red. She says it's not sore but was giving her a slight discomfort. It seems to have come up in the past 36 hours.

From googling it sounds like a batholin cyst or a blocked gland but obviously it also suggests far worse things when you go with google.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar and can calm our fears till we get to a doctor in the morning.

She has also suffered from premature menopause if that info is relevant.

I've had several Bartholin cysts. Came up, sore for a few days/ couple of weeks, popped or just disappeared again. Went to gp with first one, and gained reassurance, not bothered to go since as similar. Hope you can sleep tonight and get an appointment to put your fears to rest tomorrow.

I'm inclined to say it's nothing to worry about because I had a similar thing a few weeks ago but I'm not a GP and obviously I haven't seen it.

Put a warm compress on it or have a hot bath and see if it forms a head within a day or two. Mine did, I lanced it so the pus could escape and it's slowly went down to nothing with no soreness within five days.

Thanks
She seems to have calmed a bit since she first called me in

We've done the warm bath and some sudocream

Doesn't feel like a spot but it does feel like a skin inflammation imho

As pp says, it sounds like a Batholin's cyst. Nuisance.
At best it will subside, or get a bit bigger and 'pop'. Might need antibiotics if it's becoming an abscess, and at worst a minor procedure to clean out the cyst cavity (marsupialisation - doctor cleans out the gland cavity and makes a 'pocket' to minimise the risk of recurrence).
I'm sure your Visit to GP will reassure you it is not something more serious.

I've had these too. Warm flannel (hot as she can bear) then sudocrem. Watch it, and GP if no improvement

Thanks
Will try the flannel
