Had a UTI, took antibiotics which gave me thrush and bv. Took a canesten gel pessary which seemed to work but then I got blisters, which matches the symptoms of herpes. Sad I then had a smear test and the nurse said it might be a reaction to the pessary.
If that wasn't enough I then noticed some hard white spots around the 'entrance'. About five of the buggers. I still have pain down there, itchy especially at night. And now to top it all off, another patch of sore skin which is slightly red and really hurts if clothing rubs etc
What is going on! I did a home sti test but I've been with dh for ten years. It came back clear.
In the past I've also had cysts inside the labia for no reason. I'm wondering if it's all allergy related. The doctors just say 'I don't know' and I can't get to a clinic for another two weeks.
If anyone has any insight I'd be very grateful. I'm starting the bv gel tonight to see if that does anything.

I had some unexplained lumps and bumps and sore areas down there. I tried Sudocream and that seems to have helped. Why I would have developed nappy rash aged 50 I have no idea Blush

Realitea · 11/09/2017 20:16

It's good stuff that Sudocrem, I use it on my face!
I've tried hydrocortisone aswell but that didn't help.
I'm putting all my hopes on this bv gel now.

Could it be Lichen sclerosis? I have this and use a stronger cream than hydrocortisone, prescribed by the GP.

Realitea · 12/09/2017 07:22

No I don't think so as I haven't got the white patches. It is similar though with the little paper cut like cuts.

Pisswdoffneigjbour

You I am afraid in the age group for " vaginal atrophy " re out bits becoming sore and yes it's like nappy rash.

Many ladies need local oestrogen.

Realitea · 12/09/2017 09:37

I was reading about that last night. An oestrogen cream can help.
I'm seeing a doctor this morning thank goodness. Hopefully it won't be a 'don't know' again.

I had pretty much the same. I used the canesten (or however you spell it) cream, the one where you insert the cream with a syringe thing into your vagina. Then amother tube for the outside. Then I used vagisil to clear up the last bit. Did me Wonders xx

MaMisled · 12/09/2017 09:44

Go see your GP or sexual health clinic to rule out VIN. Mention this to them as not all are trained to spot it.

FlamingoFlower · 12/09/2017 12:25

Pleas will you report back if you get a diagnosis?? Only because I've got the exact same as you and I've had test after test after wrong diagnosis its driving me crazy!

Realitea · 12/09/2017 12:33

I've just got back and the doctor is sure it's herpes.
I'm gutted.
The other spots I was worried about are just fordyce spots but they're pretty itchy too.
I have to go back for a swab if/when the herpes blisters come back on me or dh.
Dh says he's had it since he met me but this is the first time I've showed symptoms. Perhaps as I was run down anyway it decided to show up. It can be dormant for years.

Is this the first time your DH mentioned that he's always had herpes? Sounds a bit suspicious OP. Hope this bout clears up soon.

PollyPerky · 12/09/2017 14:26

If your husband had no visible signs when he first had sex with you, then he would have transmitted it during a shedding stage when there are no symptoms. This is quite rare. I hope you feel better soon.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/09/2017 14:28

Has your dh never mentioned it before?

Realitea · 12/09/2017 14:56

Yes he has, quite early on in our relationship. We put it down to him having shingles and it came back now and then but very rarely. He had an outbreak about three months ago and it looked quite bad, I was shocked as I'd never seen him have it like that before. He got a bit unwell at that time aswell. That's when I thought it must be herpes but then I remember years before meeting dh, going to the doctor saying I thought I had it but was too embarrassed to show him at the time! Silly me. I guess we'll never know who gave who what but he said he didn't have symptoms before meeting me and I'm the only person he's ever had unprotected sex with.

We put it down to him having shingles Shingles doesn't give you a herpes outbreak unless you have had herpes in the past Confused

Do you mean that the outbreak 3 months ago (his) was linked to his having shingles at that time so his immune system was low?
Or do you mean he thinks he got herpes as a result of having shingles?

If you thought you had herpes years ago then it's not uncommon for it to come back again.

Have either you or your DH been treated with the anti viral drugs for it? It might be worth you both sorting this out to lessen the outbreaks.

Realitea · 12/09/2017 16:35

He'd had shingles before and I thought it was all the same virus as it looked so similar. This was many years ago now.
The outbreak three months ago he didn't have shingles but he was run down for a few days, a bit fluey and under stress.
I suspect I did have it as I've read it isn't always that clear for example what the doctor saw today wasn't blisters and it hasn't blistered at any point. She said it's healing too. None of the blisters have scabbed over either so it's not typical of the pictures I've seen online.
Dh has had the antivirals before but for shingles although it's the same medication - aciclovir
