Colonoscopy

I have a colonoscopy booked for Tuesday.
Question, what do I do about my usual medication? Surely if I take it at night (my usual time) it will just come out of me with the moviprep I have to drink??
Should I take it earlier? I don't usually like to do this as it makes me feel a bit weird!

Definitely check with the doctor first thing! With regards to the moviprep, I have taken it before. It isn't as bad as you think, and because it cleans everything out (sorry, can't think of a better way to describe it), you actually feel quite good. The doctor I saw advised using soft toilet paper and sudocreme (when necessary) and that was good advice - sorry if it's graphic but good luck xx

If u take tablets. Even if u have diarrhoea it stays in ur system. Unless u vomit within 20 mins of taking them

Thanks for the replies. I'll ask at the pharmacy as well.

Also a good tip is to drink it through a straw, lessens the taste. I'm having it on Wed (pre surgery on Thursday). Good luck

MeYou1234 · 11/09/2017 17:27

I'll try the straw!
Just about to start, I'm STARVING!
Any my family are just about to sit down for their tea 😭

Plan a lovely meal for afterwards and preferably get someone else to prepare it for you.

Good luck with colonoscopy.

MeYou1234 · 11/09/2017 17:47

Hang on in there! and don't leave the bathroom, MN from in there

geoff409 · 11/09/2017 19:53

Yep it isn't nice at all, but you soon get used to it. I was the same, I'd missed dinner before and wasn't bothered, but when everyone else ate I felt hungry. Hopefully once it works you'll feel quite good as everything is flushed out so to speak (sorry). Good luck x

MeYou1234 · 11/09/2017 20:56

On my second batch now. Wow, when it starts working.....!!!
I am starting to feel nice and clean, and dreaming about the lovely things I can eat tomorrow!

Not enjoying this now!
When does it stop??

geoff409 · 11/09/2017 23:14

Keep dreaming of something nice to eat tomorrow . From what I remember I didn't sleep too badly but whatever happens will happen. As for me I took half the previous evening and half in the morning and roughly after 24 hours or so after the last of it is when everything felt a bit more normal again (urges to go slowed down etc) x

SauvignonGrower · 11/09/2017 23:17

Good luck. You are through the worst. Colonoscopy with sedation a walk in the park compared to the yucky moviprep!

MeYou1234 · 11/09/2017 23:35

Thanks everyone. It feels like you are here with me (although that would be bloody weird!)
I'm sore but I think I'm empty, thank god!
I'll have to see what tomorrow brings!
