Folate deficiency

Ok so I've been feeling really tired and have had tingly hands for a while.

Had a routine blood test for something else which was fine last Thursday, on Monday Drs texted asking me to get in touch re test results asap. Earliest consultation was Thursday at 11 on the phone.

Basically my folate levels are low enough to require folic acid tablets for 4 months. They didn't explain what it is or if I'll feel any better after taking them. Has anyone else had this? Does this explain the tiredness and tingly hands? I'm so confused! The Gp didn't initially know why he was ringing me Hmm.

Is it worth me making an appointment with gp to discuss this?

Background if relevant... 26 and have had a molar pregnancy this year with lots of bleeding, treated with methotrexate chemotherapy.

Tingly hands suggests a B12 deficiency. It would be worth asking about this.

You probably also need to look at buying your own methylfolate rather than taking NHS folic acid. Much better for you.

B-vitamin deficiencies can lead to nervous system problems, yes.
