Ouch! I have a very sore fanjo!

For the last week or so my fanjo has been itchy and sore. The inside of my labia is very red. I've had thrush before but that usually comes with a cottage cheesy discharge doesn't it? I don't have any discharge or smell.
I've been using canasten cream which soothes it a bit, but not for long. Wiping after a wee is very sore.

Any ideas?

Bananaknickers · 03/04/2007 18:06

Is that you owmyfannyhurts?

raspberryberet · 03/04/2007 18:06

Doctors. Don't fanny (sorry) about with creams, get it seen by the doctor.

Bananaknickers · 03/04/2007 18:07

When I have had thrush in the past it hasn't had discharge at all, so not always

mytwopenceworth · 03/04/2007 18:08

could it be BV??

loopylou6 · 03/04/2007 18:12

when i had this problem i didnt use any bubble bath or shower gel, i just used johnsons baby shampoo as bubble bath and body wash lol, as tempting as it is try NOT to scratch and take some thrush tablets anyway, this cleared me up within a few days

Furball · 03/04/2007 18:26

stay away from johnsons it contains more chemicals than a chemistry set!
It might of saved you loopylou but it's still horrid stuff.

loopylou6 · 03/04/2007 18:37

wow really? and i thought i was doing myself good i use it on my kids all the time too

owmyfannyhurts · 03/04/2007 18:45

What's BV? How do you get it/get rid of it?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2007 18:54

Oh poor you

I think it could be BV (bacterial vagisomething) or similar but you'll need treatment whatever it is

please see GP or GU clinic (not saying that you have an STD, but GU clinic can deal with this sort of infection and personally I find it less embarrassing than getting fanjo out for GP)

owmyfannyhurts · 03/04/2007 18:55

But what is BV?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2007 18:55

here is some info on BV

owmyfannyhurts · 03/04/2007 19:02

Hmm. Thanks F&Z. I don't fit any of the risk groups. But the symptoms sound similar(ish) thankfully I don't smell of fish!

I'll get the thrush pil tomorrow and if that doesn't work I'll go to the docs. I'd rather not go for a week or 2 if I can help it. I've been redesigning my lady garden recently and it's a bit on the bald side

pirategirl · 03/04/2007 19:04

hi just to say I had similar prob, wasnt thrush, no discharge, it was and is dermatitis.

It flares up, with what I havent managed to work out yet. my gp, gave me beclamone cream to wash with, and a cream to apply.

It worked for me, so it may not be Bv.

raspberryberet · 03/04/2007 19:08

The GP won't care that your fanjo is bald. He will have seen them in many varieties and won't bat an eyelid. Getting it treated is more important than you being embarrassed at the topiary of your lady garden!

It would be better to see the GP before you take any treatment for thrush rather than waiting a couple of weeks. The sooner the problem is identified properly, the sooner it can be treated effectively. With some fanjo problems, the longer you leave it the worse it gets.

Plus, if the GP thinks it is thrush you can get the treatment on prescription rather than paying full whack over the counter.

bananabump · 03/04/2007 19:11

Speaking of which, anyone else having the "to shave or not to shave" dilemma, while pregnant? I normally try to stay fairly well maintained down there, but now I'm concious that any experimentation with pubic topiary now is likely to coincide with some vital doctors examination!

raspberryberet · 03/04/2007 19:13

Nobody went anywhere near my fanjo during either pregnancy until I was in labour - I could have done any amount of pubic topiary and no-one would have been any the wiser.

bananabump · 03/04/2007 19:13

oooh, typed before I saw your post!

Maybe I should shave an attractive shape into it then. An easter egg?

NannyL · 03/04/2007 19:15

lmao

or an easter chick?

TrinityRhino · 03/04/2007 19:16

UCM, is that you?
