What to do about the red marks in baby's neck

DS2 has had this for ages. My GP advised against using Sudocrem if the skin was broken and raw. He prescribed Daktacort cream, then said to go on to Sudocrem once it had healed a bit. HV suggested Vasogen, which is a kind of heavy duty nappy rash cream. Didn't help in our case, but presumably she's seen good results from it elsewhere.

My DD had this. I found it difficult to clean in all the folds under her chin until someone suggested putting her on her tummy....then she craned her neck up and I could get a good clean in the creases! I used Sudocream and it healed it up and kept it clear like magic.

Do the marks look shiny - a bit like a scald? Is there a little bit of creamy residue - I thought this was milk or congield dribble until I was corrected!

If so it sounds like the same thing my dd had. I was told it was probably a yeast infection, from air-borne yeast and to use an anti-fungal cream very sparingly twice a day. It did the trick and they healed up in about 5 days. You can buy a regular anti-fungal cream at the chemist - ask the pharmacist. I tried drying it thoroughly and using a talc-free dusting powder - all to no avail.

We used cornflour instead of talcum powder in ds's creases and places where he tended to get sweaty and rashy. Very effective, but the place has to be completely dry before you apply it, and you must smooth it over the skin to make sure there are no lumps that could chaff.

For chins and non-foldy skin I mix roughly equal amounts of Lansinoh and Evening Primrose Oil and rub some on to protect the skin.

Oh - definitely put her on her tummy so she looks up like Pacific said - it works a treat!

Just wanted to say, if anyone's still struggling with dribble rash, DS2's is finally clearing up. The final combination that worked was Daktacort cream from the GP and Bepanthen nappy rash cream, which rubs in, unlike Sudocrem, so it's nice to use on necks, but still seems to create a barrier. And changing his shirt or bib several times a day. Roll on spring...
