Black insect bite

I got an insect bite around 2 weeks ago, all my other bites have now healed apart from this one.

This one originally healed with some black skin in the centre - this really freaked me out as I thought it was a mole, but I was able to scrape off the black skin.

The black skin then came back with a scab and I (stupidly) picked the scab off - there was pink skin underneath but with a bit of an indent, it then bled.

It then formed another black scab, which I just picked off (again...stupid), but underneath there is some very smooth completely black skin! The indentation is gone though. The area of black skin is very small - completely round and slightly larger than a pen dot.

I would feel ridiculous going to the GP for something like this - will it clear up by itself? Is it more serious???

I would get the GP to have a look at this particular bite particularly as it has not cleared up of its own accord.

It's probably just as you describe, but there is a slight chance it's something more serious which you noticed for the first time when you looked closely at the bites. Definitely show it to a GP.

Thanks guys. I clearly never learn as I had another stare - it actually looks as though it was a small blood blister, as I poked it hard, a small amount of blood came out, and the "black" bit was completely gone underneath was some pink skin...

Shouldn't have poked and it would have probably fallen off! I don't think it's melanoma as it's small, perfectly round, regular edges and getting smaller.

If it hasn't gone in a week I will definitely get it seen to. Thanks again.

I would get this looked at sooner rather than later.
