Tablets and tummy bug - what to do?

Err, slightly awkward but what's the best thing to do in this situation?

When you take (a lot) of tablets, what do you do when you have vile diarrhea and they're not staying in your system long enough to be absorbed?

(Tmi):
I've had it for 36hrs ish and have been coping ok with it though ruddy annoying, but I took my usual medicines as normal at 8pm, and I saw them again 2 hrs later in the toilet bowl. Took me ages to work out what they were, these strangely symmetrical round things in the pan! How grim!

Anyway, now I'm a bit stuck, as I don't want to be dealing with the massive withdrawals and other effects from stopping medicines suddenly, but don't want to take them again as they might just go the same swift way as the last lot, or end up taking too much?

Should I maybe cut up the most importantly tablets and take tiny bits every few hours so they get absorbed easier than a whole one, or is that a bad idea?

It's only the tablets, not capsules so that's something I guess...

FYI I have a couple of related chronic illnesses so take 15 pills/capsules etc in the evening, including strong opiates, and a couple of blood pressure medications to minimize strain on dodgy arteries.

I'm on medication for epilepsy. If I ever threw up and saw a tablet had come up, I would just take another one. Only if it came out whole.

Oh thank you for replying.

Yes I could see them whole, one had changed colour so the outer coating must have been partly dissolved, but I could still see the pressed in lettering on it so not very much gone.

TBH I'm assuming that even if they had dissolved, a lot will be going straight through anyway, but was hoping enough was getting absorbed to tide me over until this bug thing goes away. Seeing them whole and bug showing no sign of stopping has made me change my mind.

Ahhh the glamour...

Depends on the meds - sounds like they might be slow release painkillers - if they are you can't chop them up as you will then get the whole dose in one go! Better to switch to a fast acting version, if you have one, while you have the diarrhoea.

Thanks for that, I've adjusted the balance of slow release and normal.

I thought it had gone away for a day and night, but it's come back again and I'm really ugh, I don't know, pissed off im still feeling horrible. It's not noro or anything like that as I'm not as intensely ill as I was when I had that a few years ago. But I'm knackered and drained by it, I'm eating one meal a day, dinner, when I'm feeling better, and then it goes ugh again. I'm in and out of the bathroom every hour through the night and most of the day again. Bleugh!!!

Why the f*ck isn't it going away?!?!
