What have I done to my back? I could cry!!

Pain is just above my coccyx and stretches down my buttock and hip and is bloody painful right under my buttock it then feels painful to my calf and my ankle feels numb. Walking down stairs hurts my hip like nothing else and I can't open my legs at the hips without a huge amount of pain.
I also can't clench my buttock at all.

It hurts. Not a nerve pain hurt but a something isn't sitting right type hurt.

Sounds like pressure on the sciatic nerve, possibly by a bulging disc. You need a medical opinion ASAP especially with numbness.

Agree with Growuphelen, get a med opinion and I'm the meantime use a heat pad and painkillers. Good luck.

Been to the gp...he thinks a disc has gone so referred for physio and given naproxen and diazepam

You poor thing - back pain is awful. Did the gp also prescribe omeprazole with the naproxen? You usually need something to protect your stomach when you take that because it can cause problems without. I take it when my hip flares up, and have both naproxen and omeprazole on repeat. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm already on omeprazole and ranitidine.
