Hey all,

I'm 25 and my DD is now nearly 2.5.

I've noticed that since having my DD Ive been getting these unsightly long black chin hairs, and they seem to be getting worse. They seem to just pop out of nowhere and am struggling to keep on top of tweezing them out.

I seem to get them on my breasts and have also developed a bit of a snail trail. It's just awful Blush

I've never suffered from this before I had my daughter, and was just wondering if maybe having a child upsets your hormone balance and it's just one of those things I'll have to live with. Or should I maybe go and see my GP? I don't know if it's normal or not?

Thanks

What's a snail trail?

ShmooBooMoo · 01/09/2017 21:07

I think a snail's trail is the cleaned up version of what my aunty referred to as a crabs' ladder when she was pregnant with her first child and developed a vertical line of hairs from her belly button down Grin

chinlesswonder · 01/09/2017 21:07

A little trail of hair that goes from your belly button down to your bits..

Oh! I have some slug trails on my garden path (not a euphamism) and couldn't work out what the heck you were on about!

A razor and set of tweezers are your friend.

Episticks are quite effective

(It's a tight spring you flex to act as lots of little tweezers. You can get them off eBay for a couple of quid)

I appreciate the advice for hair removal. But I wanted to know whether this was a normal thing after having a child?

I know this happens to women as they get older, but I thought hair growth was more associated with the menopause.

my hormones seem to fluctuate according to my stress levels, weight levels etc. get them checked out at a doctors - maybe something is effecting it to increase your androgenic hormones.

I have read that spearmint is great for calming the male style hormones that cause chin and similar dark hairs... some people drink 3 cups of spearmint tea a day but it's a lot easier to take a capsule supplement...

otherwise are you overweight? do you have polcystic ovaries (i understand this can cause excessive body hair)?

raspberryblush23 · 01/09/2017 21:51

I don't know the science behind it but iy also happened to me after having DS aged 21. I had DD at 28 so nothing to do with the menopause. Unfortunately in my case it keeps getting worse as I get older and I'm only 30. Sad

Hi op

I have a single black chin hair that grows I pluck it when I spot it and I'm paranoid so constantly looking out for it
My little black hair appeared a long time before I was even pregnant and had my DC

I just think sometimes some of us are prone to these unsightly hair growths compared to others.

My dear friend to has the odd chin hair.

ladyme · 02/09/2017 10:49

Yes I had a lot more hair until my DD was about 5. Still have a fortnightly routine for eyebrow lip and chin hair removal. Much less than it was and a lot finer, but still there! Sorry! I did invest in a Philips lumea a few months ago and have great results from that. Wish I'd done it years ago
