I'm going for my first routine screening one soon.

I was wondering - do you get results on the spot?

Also, is there anything worth knowing about the procedure and tips for making it all go smoothly - I've already worked out to wear separates so I'm standing in more than just knickers!

And have heard that depending on boob size/shape if can be uncomfy, so braced for that if I'm an unlucky one. How long does it take per boob?

No results come through later

It's tight and punchy but over quickly

Ime if there's something wrong you are told 'off the record' then sent off to the hospital for more tests.

Hope it goes well Smile

I was advised not to wear deodorant as it gives a better result

Thanks!

As it's the routine call up, I'm not feeling stressed about it; just wanted to know what to expect.

In our portakabin one, you get to sit for about 10 minutes in a cubicle with nowt to cover you. I had my first done in January Sad. Now I take a book and a cardigan.

Avoid having it done premenstrually when your boobs are sore.

If you are worried, paracetamol 2 hours before and nurophen plus just before you go makes you bomb proof. This should not be necessary but we have a demon mammographer.....

You get your results by letter in within a couple of weeks. No one tips you off in my experience.
