I'm not sure if this is the place to post.

My DM has had IBS type issues for a couple of years. She had bloods taken a few weeks ago which came back clear except for one which was redone. She's received a letter (last week) saying she has an urgent appointment for further tests on her colon/bowel on Tuesday. She hasn't said much about it except that she's got a few tests. My stepdad has filled in the gaps.

I'm really fucking worried. Can anyone reassure me as to what it might be besides the obvious? She's late 50s, doesn't smoke, exercises regularly etc.

Diverticulitis?
Colitis/IBD if bloods showed inflammatory markers? Not sure they'd warrant further v urgent tests though but maybe if she's had blood in her stools. Those are the two that spring to mind but it depends on her symptoms I suppose. Is she having a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy?

Further re sts will help give a diagnosis and then she can have the right treatment. Wishing your DM well. Flowers

There are lots of symptoms that will automatically trigger an urgent appointment, i.e. within two weeks. The vast majority of people referred for urgent appointments do not have a sinister cause for their symptoms but the net is cast deliberately wide to avoid missing anyone out.
