Feel weird! Chest/shoulder pain

Hi

I have weird symptoms that I can't work out if I've got 2 different problems or one weird one Confused

My main issues are

"Muscular " pain in shoulders, neck, upper back, chest. I.e they hurt when I move

Pain when I swallow solid food. Pain seems to be between shoulder blades. Generally only when I eat solid food, rarely notice it when drinking hot/cold drinks or eating yogurts etc. Pain is brief, just as food goes down. Doesn't feel like food is getting stuck

Slightly sore throat/ neck

I have a bit of a cough, but am asthmatic.

I can't take ibuprofen - due to the asthma.

We go away on Monday so no opportunity to get GP app for another week, but could go to walk in.

Apart from the pain I feel ok, no temp or anything

Just feels strange, feel abit beaten up, it hurts to cough, which feels like it's a muscular problem but would that stack up for the swallowing issue?!

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like indegestion/reflux but ant chest pain that radiates to neck and or shoulders is a medical emergency

burntoutmum · 26/08/2017 21:56

Even though it feels very muscular Lem?! It doesn't feel internal

I am wondering if the swallowing thing is something like reflux but then I'd expect anything I swallow to hurt !

If I had to bet money I'd say gallstones but seriously if this is in any way making breathing uncomfortable then please seek medical advice

Hi, Probably nothing to worry about at all but if you're going away I'd go to walk I just so they can check you over and check nothing urgent.

Walk in - better to be safe than sorry!

I don't think what you are describing is GI but I wonder whether there is something more to it (such as oesophageal ulceration). Try a dose of ranitidine - at least 150mg - and see if there is any improvement. Double check with your pharmacist that it doesn't interact with anything else you might be taking.

Watch out for any blood when you cough: that's a red flag!

highinthesky · 26/08/2017 22:05

Doh! I don't think what you're describing is cardiovascular^, I meant!

burntoutmum · 26/08/2017 22:37

Thanks High

I'm fairly convinced the bulk of it is muscular, it feels like when you get a crick in your neck, but instead I've got a pretty much entire upper body crick Shock

The weird thing is about the swallowing, but even then the pain that appears is the same pain I am having, just made worse! I wonder if solid food is catching a nerve or something?! Anyway I'll get it checked
