Lymph node question.

I noticed a lymph node at the base of my neck about 3 months ago. It's only small, less than a pea I reckon, and hasn't grown since I noticed it. I was at the GP about something else this afternoon so thought I'd mention it. He could feel it, reckons it could be a leftover from the throat infections I used to get and said to go back in 6 months if it's still there and I'd be sent for a scan. Now I'm home, I feel a bit worried. It's probably nothing, I know that, but if it is something sinister, if I wait 6 months then that's at least 9 months it'll have been sitting there (maybe longer - that's just when I noticed the node). Would you want a scan sooner or is 6 months going to be OK to wait?

It's fine. Anything sinister is usually hard and not mobile. I have lots of lymph nodes in my back I can always feel. Two under my jaw one on each side that are quite big actually but have stayed the same. A couple at the bottom of my neck too. I did mention it to gp a while ago and he said sometimes they don't shrink back all the way after nasty infections. If they're mobile and not growing then they're fine.
