Bleeding between periods

I am swaying between massive panic maybe even overreacting and burying my head in the sand. But. Over the past three month I've been regularly spotting brown blood between my periods - at varying points in my cycle.

No sex for years so not pregnant. I was thinking it may be menopause related but I've no other symptoms.

I'm absolutely terrified of going to the GP Blush A smear is a challenge enough due to previous trauma, although I did have a smear last year - for which I actually ended up at the hospital as nurse couldn't get the right angle apparently.

Am I going to have to book an appointment here?

Yes - I'm afraid you do need to see the GP. Explain how nervous you are about internal exams - they may want to book that separately. My GP books internal exams at a different time as a longer appointment than the standard 10 minutes is needed for the consultation and examination/swabs etc. Good luck - I hope everything is fine.
