Colonoscopy

I have a appointment for a colonoscopy on Thursday and I am terrified. I am sitting here feeling sick I can't sleep or eat and I am crying. I am a 56 year old woman who has anxiety and depression. I have to start the moviprep tomorrow and try to be sick just thinking about it. I am having sedation which I have had for dental work but have been told it's not the same and won't be out as I am at the dentist. Please can anyone help I want to cancel.

I have had this twice - both with no sedation. It's a doddle! No pain, no problems, unless you count them having to negotiate a piece of pink toilet paper that was stuck up my bum! Truly it is nothing at all.

The sedation is good. You honestly don't feel anything. I think I was mostly chatting to the chap who stayed at the head end about nonsense - whilst the other nurses did the camera work.
I've also done the shorter scope one a few times without sedation. Thats a bit more uncomfy but mostly due to the air they inflate you with...

Is there anything specific you're worrying about?

Everything I tend to always think the worst I have heard so many horrible stories about pain the sedation not working

Top tips.
Vaseline for your bumhole when taking the moviprep - stops it feeling too sore from the poonami. Don't go more than 3 ft from the loo - it's a bit sudden!
Also take socks - if you're stressed you might be a bit chilly padding around endoscopy in bare feet. I also find them comforting
