In Italy and have been bitten by a mosquito or something. Very itchy and weeping. Red spot surrounding bite. Just a bit worried.

Hmm I'd get that checked, that's quite a large red area surrounding it.

HeyRoly · 15/08/2017 18:52

Draw a line around the red edges to see if it's spreading. If yes then you need medical advice ASAP.

That's what my mosquito bites look like as I am allergic. I put an antihistamine cream in and it goes down. Here's mine from last week

babybubblescomingsoon · 15/08/2017 18:59

heyroly thanks. Have tried that.

florabella ouch!! I think mine is an allergic reaction. However the rest of my bites are pretty normal so wasn't sure. ^ these are my other bites.

I think the reaction differs depending on where the bite is on the body. You should see when I got bitten on they eye!! Swollen eye that couldn't open at all. Even I went to the dr with that one. Try the cream if you have one or take a piriton tablet

Lucked · 15/08/2017 19:06

I am also allegic and mine are like that, the centre of mine goes purple with a petechal rash as it fades. Oral antihistamine (piriton/chlorphenamine is good for skin things) and topical steroid.

If you start to feel unwell feverish get it seen asap

kikibo · 15/08/2017 19:06

Depending on where you are there are tiger mosquitos that leave very itchy humongous bites. I used to have them whenever we went to Venice. They're terrible but nothing to do with allergic reactions or anything to worry about.
Otherwise show someone local who'll tell you it's normal or not.

Cherrytart6 · 15/08/2017 19:09

Try antihistamine. Possibly a horse fly. Small chance it's a tic and you need antibiotics

Popcorninapot · 15/08/2017 19:12

My bites often look like this, but one did develop into cellulitis which was not fun. Antihistamine tablets usually contain them for me but agree to draw around it and check for spreading. When mine went really bad my whole arm had become stiff and painful.

lazycrazyhazy · 15/08/2017 23:16

Another allergic one here. Mine just gets bigger each day. If I jump in with anti histamine tablets and cream the first day that does help. You have my heartfelt sympathy OP.

lazycrazyhazy · 15/08/2017 23:18

I was bitten by a horse fly in Italy and that was also similar though more swollen and sausage shaped....

The other thing which helps is Eurax anti-itch cream.

Badcat666 · 15/08/2017 23:51

Another allergic one as well. Only thing find is cold towel and anti itch cream. Can you nick some ice to put in a flannel?

LoniceraJaponica · 15/08/2017 23:55

Oral and topical antihistamine asap. Draw round it and if it spreads seek medical advice. OH had a bite like that in Sorrento and managed to buy an antibiotic cream over the counter at a pharmacy.

hockityponktas · 16/08/2017 00:07

That's how I react to bites too. Antihistamine cream and some piriton should sort it out.
Like pp said, draw a circle around it and keep an eye on it.

Gerijrich · 29/08/2017 23:06

Ice straight away and hydrocortisone mine don't swell anymore but theybusef to
