Medical Secretary/getting answers!

I am so frustrated trying to get answers from ds consultants secretary!
Ds has been under consultant since March with lung issues.
In June I was told by consultant I could have a copy of genetics report, a referral was being done for another test at another hospital and I could have results of lung function tests and a decision would be made about steroids for the autumn season.
Six weeks later I am still phoning and emailing and getting nowhere!
After speaking to the secretary today it seems that the Genetics report is missing, referral to other hospital hasn't been done and I haven't a clue what's happening about the steroids/lung function results.
Ds has become more wheezy as well.
The secretary now tells me consultants workload is heavy and she and consultant will both be away for next two weeks and we are then away!
What do I do? I hate making a fuss but did point out today to secretary that it is wrong for me to be asking same questions and not getting anywhere.
Help please!

Surely this is what the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) is for? It sounds as if their service is breaking down but that's not a reason for you to accept substandard care on your son's behalf. Is it worth a trip to your GP to see if anything can be done to help your son's wheeze in the meantime?
