I am sorry to keep going on about this.

I had my wisdom teeth out on Monday and I am so not coping with the pain. I am in agony and I don't know what to do anymore, I have made an appointment for the dentist tomorrow so I hope they can do something.

I have taken so many painkillers I now feel sick, co-codamol and ibruprofen had not touched it, I got some dihydrocodeine today and that has not really worked either. Its just one bit of my face but its constant and its doing my head in.

I jsut feel so fed up, will it get better? Should it be this sore 3 days after extraction?

How many did you get taken out?

I took 2 weeks off work when I had 4 removed - painkillers all the time and couldn't eat solid food for over a week

I remember my brother liquidising a take-away chicken korma for me

You poor, poor thing. You are absolutely right to go back to the dentist asap. It definitely doesn't sound right. Wish I could suggest something useful.

All 4 out. Most of my face is fine if a bit swollen but the right uppser side is agony. Am only eating soft foods but I can deal with that its the fecking pain.

And I am sick of my mother saying 'well it will hurt you have had an operation' FFS I know but its still fecking painful.

Are you sure it isn't infected? I'm have them out and it wasn't as bad as that, but I have had similar pain with an absess. I was in so much pain I jsut double dosed on co-codamol. Co-proxomol is stronger, might be worth asking for that on perscription.

maybe the dentist will give you something else. poor you, i had mine out at 15 and they hurt for ages, i kept grinding my teeth it was uncontrollable.

The pain was awful though - also I got massive ulcers in four lines inside my mouth - where I assume they must have clamped my mouth open or something

Sorry you're in so much pain.

I got given a date for 2 of my wisdom teeth to come out in a few months. I wasn't nervous til i read your thread......

If it helps I had a breast reduction 4 years ago and tghe pain afterwards was very bad (as you would expect) and lasted about 10 weeks at the time i was thinking what have i done, why did i do this! Obviously the long term benefits far outweigh the short term pain, same as childbirth.

We have made the decision to have them out because the pain you are in before is not soemthing you want to live with for long/life. look on the brightside, the wosrt of it is over you will only start feeling better and better until one day you wake up and realise the pain has gone. (I hope) when it does please come back to this thread and give me some words of reassurance

Could you have some melted chocolate to make you feel a bit better or will that make it worse or perhaps just try to sleep through it as best you can?

Have dentist appointment tomorrow, am also ringing secretary of consultant who treated me in the morning to tell him.

Have had low grade temp (only 37.2) since being discharged. Am on anti-biotics though so should have no infection? Have been using mouthwash etc.

i felt awful for a good week and semi awful the week after.

in fact i also felt really quite depressed.

poor you.

it is a good idea to get it checked though.

I sobbed for 3 hours after having mine out.

Had I know it would be that painful I would have kept them!

I looked like I'd been beaten up when the bruising came out.

An update if anyone is interested.

The dentist said they are healing well but I have an infection in my mouth despite the anti-biotics and thats why it is so sore. He said my mouth was very swollen and I only have a small mouth so that might be making it more sore.

He said that the painkillers were probably not doing anything because of the infection. Ho hum.
Now I am on 2 lots of anti-biotics which should clear things up I hope.

I feel less sick today and I bought some tablets in boots which the pharmacist said would help.

This is costing me a fortune though. I have spent about £40 on my teeth these past few days.

I would gargle with hydrogen peroxide solution - seriously kills all known germs dead - foams in your mouth and you have to spit out vile tasting stuff but believe me you will be better in no time - works if you have a sore throat and gargle or an ingrowing toenail or anywhere there are germs breeding!!

Oraldene mouthwash is antifungal and antibacterial and very soothing.
