Toenails coming off (chemo) - what to do?

I was hoping to go for a walk but now I don't know whether or not to rest.

I don't think they're loose enough to come out just yet but my big toe is a little bit painful. Do I bandage it?

Sorry for TMI but one nail (3rd toe - very small) is completely white so I think it's all dead? The big toe is part white part 'normal' so I guess not ready to come out yet?

If it's causing any discomfort I'd bandage it. Are you immune suppressed at the moment? It would have fully died before coming out so I don't think there'll be any fresh wound or risk of infection x

Thanks Krisp
Yes I am immune suppressed, though not massively.

Since it's not fully dead yet I'm assuming it won't come out yet so I'll walk up to Boots and see if they have anything. (can't drive because of hysterectomy - ain't life fun).

I was worried it might come out whilst I'm walking and then I wouldn't be able to get home.

Yes, bandage it or tape it down with micropore or a plaster. Take it off when you get home. If it gets to the stage it might catch on something, just lightly tape across the nail. I've just lost one toenail. I bruised it but the new one was growing underneath it and slackened it. Same with my big toenail recently too, although it had an infection. I'm immunosuppressed so infection can be a long drawn out thing.

Hope you recover well from your surgery Flowers

I hope it comes off smoothly! It's been 10 years for me since chemo but I remember the difficulty with the nails well x
