Painful feet

My feet hurt, a lot, when I stand on them and walk, but only after I haven't stood up for a long period. In the morning they are very painful for about 20 mins, but the pain eases off when I've walked round a bit.

The same thing happens when I've been sitting at my desk for a while, or sitting watching TV.
It's been getting worse over a few months, and doesn't seem to be related to the shoes I wear.

It's the top of the foot, in the metatarsal area, and a bit in the joint between the metatarsals and the bones.

Right foot is worse, which is odd I think as I have a bunion on the left foot, and thought that was the cause for a while.

Once I've walked round a bit I can walk 10 miles with no issues. It's the first few feet round the house or office where I walk like an old lady.

I'm going to make a GP appointment, or should I see a podiatrist?

Has anyone had anything similar and can tell me what the problem is?

Possibly plantar fasciitis. Look up on patient.co.uk and see podiatrist not GP.

Wolfiefan · 10/08/2017 14:44

Isn't plantar fasciitis under the foot? Don't know OP. I have similar!

Heratnumber7 · 10/08/2017 15:16

Plantar fasciitis is in the heel. It's not that, but thank you for the suggestion.

Best google can come up with is metatarsalalgia (sp?), which is a catch all term for "foot pain" as far as I can see.

It's getting me down. Will report back what Dr says, but not seeing him for 3 weeks.

Have you seen a podiatrist? My pain is likely linked to hyper mobility.

bubblybum · 10/08/2017 15:42

You may have tendonitis, I had the same symptoms as you and with regular ice packs and ibuprofen it improved loads. Hope you can sort it, it's so painful.

Also try to stretch before you get up, reach forward and touch your toes to stretch the muscles.

Thanks for the tip Bubbly

Morton's neuroma?

Heratnumber7 · 11/08/2017 12:50

Nope. It's more of a general, all over the foot pain.

Out of interest how much do you weigh because my nan has the same problem but she's 15 stone and 5 ft.

Heratnumber7 · 14/08/2017 23:33

About 12st, and 5' 3". I've been heavier though and no foot problems.
