My ds1 (31/2yrs) has this, his Hb currently is at 8 he is pale and v mildly jaundiced but spleen not enlarged. My dd hasnt inherited. My ds2 (6 wks) is due at hospital tomorrow for more tests to see if he has inherited it...was really jaundiced at birth which apparently can be an early indication.

After reading prev. thread by Binker and williamandsamsmum i just wondered when your dc have had blood transfusions...at what level was their Hb?

Gosh, sorry for this really late reply! (I used to be willandsamsmum - well, I still I am but I just have a new username)

How are your boys getting on now?

My little boy is now four and has highs and lows. Ironically our haematology clinic appointments always coincide with a high so we haven't got a blood result from a low period yet. His last count was 9.2 and it was one of the rare days when he had some colour in his cheeks. His spleen is always 3cms palpable so his paed is just monitoring him for the time being.

When he is jaundiced and lethargic we just watch and wait and generally keep and eye on him and we haven't needed a transfusion yet. I'm the oldest of three girls with HS so my mum is always on the end of the phone to advise from personal experience (and 35 years nursing experience too)
