Water infection?

I'm a bit confused about if I have a water infection. I feel fine, it's been about 5 days that it's been uncomfortable/burny after a wee early morning (kept me awake for over an hour). I'm about to go get some antibiotics for it but wouldn't it hurt all the time? Through the day I feel fine. Or have other symptoms by now? Haven't had one since I was very young so I'm not sure! I'm going to take the antib's anyway at this point but (tmi) I wouldn't mind avoiding a yeast infection, would be the 3rd time this year!

Could easily be a mild one. Always follow doctor's advice of course, but I really wouldn't be taking antibiotics at that stage.

I'd only consider taking antibiotics if it was serious and not shifting- antibiotic resistance is becoming worse and worse, and it's not worth the risk in my opinion (and the opinion of most doctors in most situations- with the usual disclaimer that yours may be different!)

Generally UTIs are dealt with by the body pretty well- overuse of antibiotics is the biggest risk to that.

Best way of dealing with them is drinking lots (with the sachets of treatment if you find they work) so that you need to pee lots and actually have something to pee out. Paracetamol etc. if necessary. I've had an awful one in the past where my lower abdomen was in horrific agony, and found a hot water bottle really helpful for that (did end up with antibiotics for that one!)

(Having said all of that, best advice is of course to check with a healthcare professional IRL if you're unsure of the diagnosis)

Ahh thanks everyone, the prescription has been ready to pick up for three days just haven't been able to get it/not sure if I need it. I might just take them anyway at this point as I felt so awful this morning. I will pick them up and see how I feel tommorow. Not had any antib's for 9 months. Just finding it strange how I feel mostly fine through the day.
