Bruises suddenly appearing

Aria2015 · 05/08/2017 01:02

I have a 2 year old. Recently a friend came to stay and we went clothes shopping and trying on stuff I realised how many bruises I have on my body. My lo is very gentle and not rough so they are not for him but I do get down on my hands and knees etc... to play.

She seemed concerned and said to keep an eye on them. In the last few days I've noticed even more bruises, especially my lower arms. I can't account for them. I feel a bit worried, especially because a couple of weeks ago I was brushing my teeth and my gums started to bleed heavily, this had never happened before but I felt alarmed at the time.

I suppose the other thing is that I had a cough over a month ago that still persists. Maybe I'm just paranoid because of that? I know coughs can linger but people have commented at work how it still seems bad.

I mentioned it to my dh tonight and he said not to worry, am I being silly? I'm not usually a worrisome over stuff like this but I'm a bit concerned.

You need to get checked out by your GP asap. Sorry, but these are all quite worrying symptoms. DH is probably just trying to reassure you, but you are right to be concerned. Good luck Flowers

Try not to worry (or google!) as I'm sure it's nothing
But book a blood test with the docs on Monday :)

QuestionableMouse · 05/08/2017 01:11

It's probably nothing serious. I bruise like mad when I'm low in iron.

Graphista · 05/08/2017 01:13

Could be a clotting disorder. Could be a symptom of infection. Only way to know is see dr.

Are you a smoker? Heavy drinker? Both would put you at risk for serious reasons causing such symptoms.

Definitely needs checked.

Thanks for the replies will go to my gp for a blood test. I'm not a smoker or heavy drinker (although I'm not tee total!). Hopefully it's nothing or just an iron deficiency.

Hi,

I also bruise very easily and have bleeding gums.

Some years ago I had a very mild blood condition where a platelet missing in my blood caused tiredness, bruising and bleeding. It then went by itself over the years.

I still bleed very easily and bruise. I also have recurrent UTIs due to a swollen kidney (extra renal pelvis); I'm not sure if they are somewhat linked but also have vitamin d deficiency which can definitely cause it.

You definitely need a blood test but try not to worry too much as sometimes it's nothing.

Take care and please keep us updated
