Leg swelling- would you bother with doctor?

Had a lump come up on my leg on Monday- thought it was probably just an ingrown hair as I suffer with these quite a lot. However, over the course of the day it got very swollen and itchy which made me think it might be a bug bite or something- took an antihistamine to see if this helped and it didn't seem to swell anymore.

After showering yesterday morning, noticed there was now a "head" as if it was a spot/boil but didn't want to squeeze it as it was so red and inflamed I was worried it was, or could get, infected. Took more antihistamines just in case and went off to work.

Yesterday evening, it was massive- about 3cm circle of white, raised hard lump surrounded by a further 4cm of red swelling. I tried putting a hot cloth on it to "drain" it and then followed up with baking soda/water paste as recommended by a friend to draw any infection out. The swelling went down immediately but it is still very red and today it looks like a black hole in the centre of it.

As it's no longer swollen, I don't think the doctor will do anything but my husband is nagging me to get it looked at (I doubt I would get an appointment anyway as the appointment system at my doctors is ridiculous so the only option would probably be out of hours later on today)
