Bladder Infection- Do I need to see someone over the weekend?

Hi,

I had laparoscopy and excision of endo on 10th July. I've been improving everyday until this evening where I feel like I need a wee all the time, have red wee and a small amount of clotted blood coming from pee hole when wiping. Will this wait until Monday or should I call someone now?

I tried calling the Nuffield where I had my op but obviously the ward nurses are busy now.

Ps I had beetroot yesterday lunchtime but don't think that is causing red wee. Also, I had my period two days after surgery so I don't think it is that. It's my 4 year olds party tomorrow and I feel so bad for him as I've been ill for so many months. Don't want to ruin it for him.

Don't wait until Monday. Call 111 for GP to call you back. Your symptoms are classic urinary tract infection indicators and, after a chat, GP may have a prescription for antibiotics ready for you to collect from the surgery in the morning.

Hope you feel better son.

I'm a bit of an expert on uti's as had one for three months last summer 😳.

If you have a walk in centre near you then pop along this weekend. They will dip your wee which should give them an indication if you have a uti and antibiotics will be prescribed. If not you'll have to get an emergency appt on Monday.

I went to GP out of hours in the end at 1.15am. I've got 3 days of antibiotics (doesn't seem like much to me!). I'll see how things progress.

Thanks for the advice.

Three days is standard. You may need five though if it doesn't clear. Good luck 😉
