Recurring sinus infections - Anyone else?

A year and four months ago I became poory with a flu type virus which I caught from child who was at nursery. It was quite bad and I ended up with sinusitis which eas then the first time I had ever had it. At the time, I thought it was just a very bad cold as I hadn't had a sinus infection before but the pain was so bad in my head and my face and the green/yellow never ending horrible mucus from the nose. It went on for weeks and weeks until I admitted defeat with pain and went to the doctors for an antibiotic which cleared it up. Since then, I have had sinusitis 5 or 6 times. I am on antibiotics now for it, although it's only the second time this year. I wondered if anyone else suffers like this with sinusitis and is there anything anyone can advise me to do that might help or prevent it from coming on? I eat a healthy diet, I don't smoke and I drink lot of water every day. And before March 2016 I had never had it in my life. When I saw the doctor yesterday, she mentioned that I could maybe have a referral to ENT if I get it again soon which has totally panicked me as I am not comfortable with having things done (like operations and procedures etc). Can anyone offer any advice as to why this may keep coming back or am I just unlucky? And any helpful tips on keeping it away would be really appreciated.

Many thanks

Is it just pain or mucus as well?
I only get the pain and use a steroid spray my gp prescribed which has been brilliant.

Cocolepew - it's both sadly, although this time round it has been more pain. The Dr has prescribed Doxycycline antibiotics for 7 days and a steroid nose spray but this hasn't beeb put on repeat or anything. Do you think the spray is something that would be good to continue with?

I suffer with sinusitis regularly. I find that using neilmed twice a day when I have an infection helps. I also use Neilmed daily when free of infection. I have had 2 operations on my sinuses and am waiting on having a third one done sometime this year as my left side is blocked. I see a consultant in London and whenever I get an infection they insist on me having a double whammy of AB's (which I absolutely hate) - Amoxycillin and Augmentin for 2 weeks. I'm also prescribed a nose spray that I take daily called Avamys.

When I am free of infections I take an AB 3X's a week, this is meant to stop/slow down infections (Azithrymicin). Not sure it really works in my case, I do suffer with an autoimmune deficiency.

I used to hate the neilmed, am used to it now - def worth investing in one!

I was prescribed the spray because of sinus headaches that lasted up to 3 days, it has really helped.
I didn't really have a lot of mucus but blew my nose constantly and would get very blocked ears.

I second the Nelimed. I used it before the I got the spray and it really helped to clear everything. Make sure you get the sachets to put in it though.
Is there any type of food or allergy that could be causing it?
My brother had terrible sinus problems, he needed an op. It turned out that nuts were a major contributor to his snot Grin.

Btw the spray I use is Avamys too.
And I have an autoimmune deficiency too Hmm

Thanks for your helpful responses. Without sounding stupid though, what is neilmed?

It's a sinus rinse, I got it from Amazon but I know Boots definitely do it.

I also get a lot of sinus infections, the pain is awful, especially if you get it behind your eyes
I was given Doxycycline which didnt agree with me,but supposed to be the best AB for sinus infection,
Also had a horrible taste and icould especially taste it when i breathed out through my nose, had that for over a year,
Only got rid of it with a combination of ABs and steroid spray
I have read that dairy like milk and cream can contribute towards sinus problemsnot sure if true
