Teeth out under GA

Icklepickle101 · 27/07/2017 20:33

I'm having 2 wisdom teeth out under GA tomorrow and trying to make arrangements for coming home. I'm first on the list for afternoon surgery so should start about 1:30. As long as all goes well and I wake up ok does anyone know how long they will want me to stay? DP can't get me until 6:30 so hoping they will want me to stay until then? Also how much pain were you in after having yours out? I've stocked up on soups today but I'm very nervous!

DD had a tooth out under GA (as growing wrong way in her mouth so not a wisdom tooth). From memory she was anaesthetised around 9.30am and we took her home around 2.30pm. They required her to drink, have something like a yogurt or banana and go to the toilet before leaving. Obviously it wasn't her wisdom teeth, but she did have stitches in the roof of her mouth, but she managed to eat spag bol later on (her favourite).

The surgical time are sure to come around before, so if you have any questions, ask them. It be worth getting DH to get some paracetamol or ibuprofen in just in case you feel a bit achy. Hope it goes well.

Thank you that's very reassuring, I'm amazed at slag Bol the same day!! I'd pictured myself looking much slimming this time next week after starving living off soup for a few days!

I was kicked out less than an hour after waking when I had teeth done under GA. Was surprised really

I had my top wisdom teeth out a few years ago in hospital but with local anaesthetic, one was fully through so came out really easily. The other one had barely broken the gum so had to be cut into to get it out and needed a few stitches to close it. I was really sore for the first 2-3 days after so ate loads of soup, stews & mash but after that it felt better quickly.
I did buy some co-codamol from the pharmacy but only used it the first couple of days after that just paracetamol & ibuprofen was enough.
Make sure you follow the after care advice religiously, I did and had no problems but a friend who had hers out under GA didn't and ended up on antibiotics.

Thanks for the reassurance! Just want it done now, I'm starving already!
